“The man who is good enough to shed his blood for his country is good enough to be given a square deal afterwards.”
President of the United States
Over the last few years, OSTI has recognized a need to assist our nations displaced veterans. Therefore, we are developing a program to assist our nation’s forgotten heroes.
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development latest statistics, on any given night there are over 49,000 “temporary displaced”* veterans across the United States; OSTI’s objective is to transition these veterans and other screened individuals to a level of self-sufficiency. What OSTI envisions is not a typical “homeless assistance” program, but more a self-development program. Our program will initially provide housing, clothing, food, education, and training.
With the cooperation of other nationally accredited educational programs, we will provide a professional curriculum in an environment conducive to learning. Additionally, to insure that “accurate” skill levels are archived, OSTI will recruit professionals from each course of study offered, to instruct and mentor veterans in their chosen profession and areas of studies. Theses chosen professionals will be experienced and compassionate in conveying their own professional and firsthand knowledge to veterans, all the while employed in an actual REAL WORLD fully functional environment.
OSTI will redefine the Educational Industry with a new and unique business and educational concept. The “Paradigm Shift” we envision basically boils down to “Train Them For Life”, give them the tools of life (new skill-sets) that will last a lifetime.
Through our Veterans Program, veterans enter a business or vocational training program or both if they desire. To build and obtain the necessary knowledge, participants work in their desired field of study. This comprehensive training program is designed to teach the necessary skills to make veterans more marketable. Training programs being offered include but not limited to:
- Business Administration
- Furniture and Cabinet Making
- Home Remodeling and Repair
- Marketing Communications
- Workplace Safety
- Other Available
This program is designed to be completed within 24 months and can be completed in a minimum of 12 months. Upon completion each veteran will have a minimum of 1500 hours of education and work experience, so they minimize their chances of hearing “…you lack the experience…”
The Occupational Safety Training Institute (OSTI) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and charitable contributions are tax-deductible for income, gift and estate taxes. Our federal tax identification number is 26-3879467 and our state registration identification is NV20081568011
*We have chosen the phrase “Temporary Displaced” over “Homeless” believing that the phrase is more positive; whereas the phrase “Homeless” denotes and has the appearance of a negative image.
